Portugal Fashion chose to stage its presentations behind closed doors in response to the hysteria and the coronavirus epidemic sweeping throughout Europe and beyond. This, however, did not alleviate their disappointment at being unable to commemorate 25 years of homegrown talent in the fashion business. Portugal Fashion has presented 1,986 collections by 171 designers (all of the different nationalities, known and emerging designers) and 143 companies on a national and international scale throughout the last quarter-century (in clothing, footwear, and jewelry). Portugal Fashion Fall-Winter 2021 is one of the most awaited fashion shows in 2021. After the successful first show in March last year, the second event is planned for October 2021. The fashion show promises to showcase young fashion designers and their extravagant collections. The famous duo behind Marques’Almeida, Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, will be presenting their collection in the city where they met each other for the first time.
The fashion show will focus on various themes of Portugal. As per the sources, Huarte will pay homage to the Ahcor, the sea and the coast of the country. Kensal, on the other hand, will showcase the journey of his brand and how it has evolved over the years. Hugo Costa and Marcelo Almiscarado, who won Bloom Content 2020, will also be present.
The Portugal Fashion Fall-Winter also features Rita Sá, a young and sustainable brand of fashion that did wonders half a year ago with a small but simplistic detailed collection. It also features none other than power duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, known as Marques’Almeida. They won the LVMH Prize in 2015 for the Young Fashion Designers. They create sophisticated street designs reflecting the urban aesthetics of Portugal. They presented their first collection on 24th April. The second collection will be seen in October.
This year, Portugal Fashion is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the event. So, the designs and collections might be inspired by all the past collections. The complete guest list is not yet out. However, some designers have confirmed their attendance, as mentioned above.
The Portugal Fashion 2021 will be held with all the COVID precautions and regulations to maintain a safe difference and health safety among all the designers, audience, and other attendees. The audience will be less than 200 people. However, there will be even fewer people at off locations of the hotel due to enclosed spaces. The contingency plans have been made and designed by the health specialist Ricardo Mexia. The event will have the proper equipment and personal protection for the safety of people. Even though the audience will be limited, the event producers promise the fun will be unlimited. The whole event is co-financed by Portugal 2020 with Compete 2020.
